In 2011, we began the implementation of a number of strategies designed to reduce our School Environmental Footprint. The following schemes are currently in place:

  • Solar and Energy Efficiency Program: this involves putting a photovoltaic array (solar panels) on our school and upgrading the quality of our most-used lights
  • Monitoring water use across the school
  • Responding to and repairing water leaks immediately
  • Recycling program
  • The planting of 400 new native plants on our lower campus thanks to a Queen's Jubilee Grant obtained by the P&C, and
  • Environment Club for years 2-6 students who wish to learn about sustainability and caring for our environment.

If you would like to monitor Toowong State School's power usage or if you would like more information visit the Solar Schools website
