At Toowong State School, our community upholds high standards of behaviour that are essential to creating a safe and nurturing educational environment. We actively teach and promote the following core rules:

  • I am Safe: Students are taught the importance of personal safety and encouraged to create a secure environment for themselves and their peers.
  • I am Kind: We emphasise kindness and empathy towards others to foster a supportive and inclusive community.
  • I am Responsible: Responsibility is key to our ethos, where students learn to take accountability for their actions and contribute positively to our school.
  • I am a Learner: We encourage a lifelong love of learning, urging students to be curious, engaged, and proactive in their education.
  • I am Respectful: Respect for others and for oneself is fundamental, and we strive to instil this in every student through understanding and acknowledgment of diverse perspectives and cultures.​

To further support our students in developing essential social and emotional skills, we implement the "You Can Do It" program. This program is built on five foundational principles that are crucial for personal growth and effective student leadership:

  • Confidence: Empowering students to believe in themselves and their abilities.
  • Organisation: Teaching students to manage their time and resources efficiently, fostering independence.
  • Getting Along: Encouraging positive interactions and relationships among students to build a harmonious school community.
  • Persistence: Developing a resilient mindset that motivates students to persevere in the face of challenges.
  • Resilience: Equipping students with the skills to bounce back from setbacks and thrive in various situations.

Through these rules and the "You Can Do It" program, Toowong State School commits to providing a comprehensive framework for behavioural excellence that prepares students for successful futures, both academically and personally.
