Active, Healthy, and Engaged
At Toowong State School, we provide a wide range of sporting opportunities that support students to stay active, build confidence, and develop teamwork skills.
School Sport
Students in Years 5 and 6 can participate in interschool sport and training, with activities including:
- Basketball
- Dodgeball
- Soccer
- Softball
- Netball
These experiences promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride.
Swimming Program
All students participate in a block of swimming lessons in Term 4 each year.
Lessons are conducted at a local pool by qualified instructors and focus on developing water safety and swimming skills.
Sporting Carnivals
Students take part in annual whole-school sporting events, including:
- Cross Country
- Athletics Carnival
- Swimming Carnival
Students in Years 5 and 6 may progress to district, regional, and state competitions based on performance.
Before and After School Activities
Students have additional opportunities to stay active through:
- Before school play, encouraging social connection and physical activity
- Running Club (Years 5–6)
- Tennis coaching available outside school hours
Building Healthy Habits
Through sport and physical activity, students develop lifelong habits that support their health, wellbeing, and enjoyment of movement.
