The Toowong Supportive Leaders Program is specifically designed for our Year 6 students. Each year, these students participate in a comprehensive, full-day training session held at an offsite location to kickstart their leadership journey. This program equips them with essential skills such as interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and leadership, preparing them to take on proactive roles within our school community.
The skills developed during the training are applied in various school activities and leadership opportunities, including:
- Prep Buddy Program: Year 6 students mentor younger students, guiding them through their early school days.
- School Captains: Students lead by example, representing the school in events and activities.
- Sports House Captains: House Captains inspire and lead their teams during school events including Cross Country, Athletics, Ball Games, and more.
- Student Council: Students get involved in school governance, providing a voice for their peers.
- Leading Assembly and Other School Events: Students take charge of planning and conducting school assemblies and various other events.
Supported by ongoing curriculum initiatives, these roles enable students to practice their leadership in a real-world context, enhancing the supportive environment at our school.
