At Toowong State School, we maintain high expectations for behaviour to ensure a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students.
Our approach is grounded in explicitly teaching and reinforcing our core expectations:
Our School Expectations
- I am Safe – We make choices that keep ourselves and others safe
- I am Kind – We show care, empathy, and consideration for others
- I am Responsible – We take ownership of our actions and contribute positively to our school community
- I am a Learner – We are engaged, curious, and committed to improving
- I am Respectful – We value ourselves and others, and appreciate different perspectives
Supporting Student Wellbeing
At Toowong State School, we support student wellbeing through The Resilience Project, which focuses on building positive mental health and emotional resilience.
This program is centred around three key principles:
- Gratitude – Focusing on the positives and appreciating what we have
- Empathy – Understanding and valuing the feelings and experiences of others
- Mindfulness – Being present and aware of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings
Through these practices, students develop the skills to build positive relationships, manage challenges, and maintain a strong sense of wellbeing.
Our Approach
Through our clear expectations and wellbeing programs, we support students to develop the skills, attitudes, and behaviours they need to thrive.
We believe that positive behaviour is best developed through consistency, strong relationships, and a shared understanding between school and home.
