In 2011, we used the following strategies to reduce our School Environmental Footprint.

Solar and Energy Efficiency Program. This involves putting a photovoltaic array (solar panels) on our school and upgrading the quality of our most-used lights

  • Monitoring water use across the school.
  • Responding and repairing water leaks immediately.
  • Recycling program

If you would like to monitor Toowong State School's power usage or if you would like more information visit the Solar Schools website

Environmental garden

We also extend our learning and green thumb to our school garden - located north of the sports hall. Students have the opportunity and planting, growing and picking fruits and vegetables from their planter boxes. Students have learnt about growing plants from seedlings, how to look after plants, pests and even vegetable tastings. Compost bins are provided for students to collect compostable waste from their lunch boxes.
