Beyond the Classroom
At Toowong State School, students are encouraged to explore their interests, develop new skills, and connect with others through a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.
School Programs
Students can participate in a variety of school-based activities, including:
- Interschool sport and school-based training
- Instrumental Music Program and School Band
- Senior Choir, Junior Choir, and Auslan Signing Choir
- Creative Generation (Signing Choir and Dance)
- Running Club
- Environmental Club
- Gifted and Talented workshops
Instrumental Band
Students in the Instrumental Music Program can progress to become members of the Toowong State School Band.
The band performs regularly at school events, including assemblies, and represents the school at community events and competitions such as the Big Band Competition.
Selected students may also be invited to participate in regional Band Camps of Excellence.
Competitions and Events
Students have opportunities to participate in a range of academic, cultural, and sporting events, including:
- ICAS (English, Mathematics, Science, and Writing)
- Interschool sport
- Premier's Reading Challenge
- Metwest Athletics, Cross Country, and Swimming
After School Activities
A variety of external providers offer additional programs on school grounds, including:
- Drama classes
- Art classes
- Junior Engineers
- Chess
- Tennis
- Piano lessons
